Science Home Experiment - Lava Lamp
Perfect task to set at home for pupils of all ages!
Guide to creating a lava lamp
Pupils require very few materials and can complete the experiment following the worksheet provided which has an experiment list, method and diagram.
There is also a work sheet with questions for pupils to complete and send back to you to report how their home experiment went.
Designed by an experienced Science Teacher, I have completed this experiment with KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4 pupils.

I personally find it better to print the Blank glossary on A3 and stretch across 2 pages in an exercise book but works well on A4 also.
One page A4 key words taken from the national curriculum a balance of Tier 1-3 Keywords for pupils. Definitions extracted from a Science Dictionary/AQA or English Dictionary.
I use at the start of a topic and allow pupils to either complete all for homework or complete 5 a lesson.
Works well to encourage good vocabulary in lessons.

I have produced a microscope certificate.
Best printed on white card in colour.
Adds to the effect in the classroom if you can get a dated stamp available in most cheap shops and stamp it.
I give to pupils once they have labeled the microscope and demonstrated on the actual microscope that they know where everything is and how to hold it.

This resource has been used for 2 years within department.
The method has been used and tested.
The resource includes a completed and blank document.
The blank one is given to the pupils to complete.
It has information on the equipment, risk hazards, method, careers and links to curriculum.
This resource hits Gatsby targets as well as extracurricular teaching standards 1 and 8.
Pupils engage and use STEM skills.
